ARTISTRY

Sri Lankan Batik is a captivating art form with intricate designs crafted using a wax-resist dyeing technique. Its rich history dates back to the 18th century, making it an integral part of the island nation's cultural heritage.

How is Batik created?

It entails the application of wax and dyes to fabric to create mesmerizing patterns. The process begins with artisans sketching designs onto the fabric using a pencil or stylus. Subsequently, hot wax is meticulously applied to specific areas using a tool called a tjanting, serving as a resist against the dye. Once the wax dries, the fabric undergoes dye immersion, with the process being repeated to achieve the desired pattern.

Batik represents a harmonious blend of tradition, artistry, and cultural significance, standing as a cherished asset within Asian heritage and textile industries.

EMBROIDERY

Embroidery in fashion is a captivating fusion of artistry and craftsmanship.

Embroidery is the skilled technique of embellishing and decorating garments by hand. It uses stitches in silks and yarns. It transforms plain fabrics into exquisite pieces, adding texture, colour, and intricate designs.
